1857	Thomas Blackett Stephens was one of the first persons to purchase land in the area.
1862	Stephens established businesses, with interests in farming, wool scouring and fellmongery. His agricultural venture went on to become the largest within the district. Later, he became a Mayor of Brisbane’s Municipal Council.
1866	The Junction Hotel opened its doors on the corner of Ipswich Road and Boggo Road. (The latter is the present-day Annerley Road). Shops and services bagan to line the Ipswich Road to cater for the surrounding area.
1911 – 1915	Digby Denham was the Premier of Queensland during these years. His tenure saw him name the area Annerley after a township in Surrey, England.
1920’s	This period saw rapid growth in Annerley. A property boom saw many houses built up in the former farmlands. As a result, the neighbourhood developed a social scene. This included the opening of the Boomerang Theatre in 1924.
